The standard length of our led strip is 5 meters per reel. Normally, it you connect more than 5 meters with a 12V power lead, the end of the strip will be less bright which is due to the voltage drop.

 

Voltage drop is the amount of voltage loss that occurs through a circuit. On the printed circuit board, the wires, the LED components, and the resistances have impedance to current flow. LED modules require a minimum amount of current to function properly. If not, flickering, running less brightly, or shifting in the color will occur. 

 

How to control voltage drop?

A noticeable shift in color or brightness difference on one end compared to the other if voltage drop is not properly controlled. Let’s follow the simple steps below.

1. Calculate the wattage needed.

2. Decide the wire run length, wire gauge, and total fixture load.

3. Choose the led strip light between 12V and 24V.

 

DINAM recommends the 12V in lower wattage, such as led tape lights with wattage under 9.6W per meter in 5 meters continuous run. If you want to have higher wattage per meter and shorter led strip, it may work properly too. For detailed information, please consult us, we are very happy to help.
